Prasa has not awarded maintenance contracts for several years

  • The passenger rail agency has not awarded maintenance contracts for several years, leading to a precipitous decline in train availability.
  • Because many of the trains cannot run, trips are cancelled, and far fewer commuters are using Metrorail.
  • Though the rail agency is sitting on a cash pile, it has not awarded contracts to fix train sets.
