Global service providers are urging businesses in Indonesia to adopt green energy and hybrid cloud solutions but also note that the country needs to address deficiencies in telecommunication infrastructure and human resources to ensure that digitalization in the era of Industry 4.0 benefits the masses.

Schneider Electric’s Indonesia and Timor-Leste cluster president Roberto Rossi suggested it would become increasingly easy for companies to switch to green energy as the supporting technology became cheaper.

“Today, global investors and big players are looking for sustainable companies. The money is shifting from the old way of fossil fuels to green energy,” he said during The Jakarta Post’s UpClose webinar on Tuesday.

He went on to say that the world was entering the “Electricity 4.0” era backed by green energy and…

Gaming is one of the few industries that grew last year despite the pandemic-induced economic slowdown, yet business representatives say they need government support to unlock the industry’s full potential.

Indonesia Gaming Association (AGI) chairman Cipto Adiguno noted that while the overall gaming industry had withstood the impact of the pandemic, business-to-business (B2B) segments, such as publishing, had suffered.

“The B2B model saw negative [growth] at the beginning of the pandemic. Gaming services saw almost no impact, while some product-based [companies] saw sales rise,” he said during a press conference on Aug. 16.

Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry data show that the apps and gaming industry contributed Rp 24.88 trillion (US$1.7 billion) to the country’s economy last year, accounting for 2.19 percent of the total GDP.<...>

The Industry Ministry has announced a host of measures to support the manufacturing sector at a time when consumer spending alone cannot be relied upon to lift domestic economic growth.

Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita explained on Wednesday that the strategies included technological advancement, a focus on the so-called green economy and blue economy, incentives for producers as well as nontariff measures against imports.

With regard to the first strategy, Agus said the ministry planned to build an Indonesian Manufacturing Center, which was aimed at reducing the use of imported machinery by increasing the domestic production of substitutes.

For green and blue economic development, meanwhile, the ministry aims to get more industries to implement what the minister referred to as “green industry” and adopt a circular economy concept….

Business generally refers to organizations that seek profits by providing goods or services in exchange for payment. However, businesses don’t need to turn a profit to be considered a business. The pursuit of profit, in and of itself, makes an organization a business.

Here’s a full definition of what makes a business, along with some of the common types you’ll encounter.

What Is a Business?

A business is any entity that seeks to profit from an activity. Business is a broad term, but these profit-seeking activities generally include providing some kind of good or service that people want or need. Businesses may experience a loss, but that doesn’t stop them from being a business. All that’s important—from the standpoint of defining a business—is that the entity seeks to profit from what it does.

Profit doesn’t have to strictly refer to cash payments. It can refer to other securities, such as

What are the best business ideas for kids?

As a new parent, I’m constantly trying to figure out the best way to educate our little hustlers about business, entrepreneurship, and money.

And while he’s a few years away from the proverbial lemonade stand on the sidewalk, let me use that as inspiration for this post.

I had a number of entrepreneurial ventures as a kid — some successful and some less so — but for every package of Skittles I sold and every baby I sat (OK, that sounds super weird), I was learning on small scale the basic elements of business.

I asked for some help to come up with this list, so thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas!

I think you’ll find something for every age level below. After all, Warren Buffett says (paraphrasing) that the age you start your first business was found to be
